WELCOME TO CAFÉ SALTERIET!
Café Salteriet is beautifully situated at Svedjehamn in Björkö, 40 km northwest of Vaasa. We serve freshly brewed coffee and homemade delights every day. On the menu we also have tasty quiches, luxurious sandwiches and of course our appetizing salmon soup. Pay a visit to the popular Café Salteriet in the middle of the natural heritage of Kvarken. Come and enjoy our cosy café or step out on the terrace to enjoy the café’s beautiful surroundings.
If you are a larger group paying a visit to Café Salteriet, it’s a good idea to announce your arrival in advance, so that we’ll be well prepared with food and pastries.
This summer 2015 Irish oil painter Ronan O'Hara exhibits paintings in Cafe Salteriet. He has lived in Finland for 11 years and now lives in Björköby. Ronan studied fine art in London and has had art exhibitions in the UK, Ireland and Finland. His work deals with different subjects, and he paints using the materials and techniques of the Old Masters. The Kvarken Archipelago with it’s impressive seascapes, changeable light, pristine nature and rich birdlife act as an inspiration for the painter.
Upstairs in Salteriet there's an exhibition painted by a group aquarellists from Replot. The inspiration for the paintings are from their own nature experiences.
Behind the Café Salteriet you can see the 20 meter high viewing tower Saltkaret. From up there you will be able to see the De Geer moraines, formed during the ice age. The moraines are what has given Kvarken its World Heritage status.
